Wink And A Nod has returned to racing in excellent form this time and remains a clear $1.95 favourite in 2016 Strickland Stakes betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Zarantz ($2.70) and Gris Caro ($7.50).

Will Wink And A Nod justify favouritism and win the 2016 Strickland Stakes, or will one of her talented rivals post an upset?

1st

Wink And A Nod ($1.95)

Wink And A Nod has been a standout performer for Myalup-based trained Justin Warwick through recent seasons and should simply prove too difficult to beat in the 2016 Strickland Stakes. Posting fifteen wins and a further six minors through thirty-six career starts so far, the Mcflirt mare savaged the line for success in the Listed Grandstand Cup (1500m) on March 26th; progressing to fourth in the Marjorie Charleson Classic (1200m) before returning to winning form in the Old Comrade Stakes (1600m). Placing third in the Listed Sheila Gwynne Classic (1400m) on April 16th, Wink And A Nod will be seeking a third-consecutive win this weekend after taking out each of the Group 3 Belmont Sprint (1400m) and Group 3 Hyperion Stakes (1600m) most recently.

2nd

Gris Caro ($7.50)

Former east coast galloper Gris Caro has drawn ideally in barrier 4 and arguably offers punters the best value for money at current $7.50 Strickland Stakes odds. Claiming six wins and as many minors through twenty-three career starts so far, the With Approval gelding clearly required a couple of runs to find form upon arriving in Perth this time, but ran on for a pleasing third in the Hyperion Stakes last time out on June 11th.

3rd

Respondent ($15)

Respondent is saddled by leading Western Australian trainer Adam Durrant, is a proven performer at the course, distance and class and is more than worth consideration for an each-way bet at current 2016 Strickland Stakes odds. Securing four race wins and a further thirteen minors through thirty-four starts so far, the Haradasun gelding is currently amidst a long and arduous preparation but undoubtedly has the class to figure in the finish of this race, particularly from barrier 2 and with William Pike in the saddle.
