Rohan Withdrawn From 2012 Strickland Stakes Field – Belmont Racing

July 2nd, 2012

Race favourite Rohan will not nominate for the Group 3 Strickland Stakes this Saturday July 7, 2012.

The three-year-old suffered a joint injury prior to his last win in the Listed Belmont Guineas and has failed to recover in time for the 2012 Strickland Stakes.

“The colt whacked a joint before the Guineas, but we were given veterinary advice he would be fit to race,” trainer Vaughn Sigley said yesterday.

“Since the Guineas, it’s been a concern he still has slight swelling around the knocked joint.

“X-rays and scans have not revealed anything serious.

“However, we’ve decided to rest Rohan. He should soon be back in work.”

The decision to spell Rohan comes as his trainer outlined the plan for a summer racing carnival campaign at Ascot Racecourse for the Blackfriars gelding.

Rohan has won five of his 11 race starts so far and has earned more than $390,000 in prize money.
